The Procter & Gamble Company manufactures and markets consumer products in countries throughout the world. The Company provides products in the laundry and cleaning, paper, beauty care, food and beverage, and health care segments. Procter & Gamble products are sold primarily through mass merchandisers, grocery stores, membership club stores, drug stores, and neighbourhood stores.

PG operates five business segments, fabric & home care; baby, feminine & family care; beauty; health care; and grooming. Fabric & home care generated the largest sales in 2020 totalling 33% of revenue, followed by baby, feminine & family care at 26%, beauty at 19%, health care at 13% and grooming 8%. Some of its well-known brands include Gillette, Pampers, Old Spice and Tide. Geographically Proctor & Gamble operates in over 180 countries, with the United States the largest single market, totalling 44% of sales in 2020.

Benefiting from more people staying at home during the pandemic, PG recently boosted its sale and profit outlook on January 20th 2020, with a positive outlook based on increasing at-home demand for its products. The company raised guidance for organic sale growth to 6% for fiscal 2021 from under 5% previously, with core earnings expected to rise 10% from 5-8% previously.

For the year ending 30th June 2021, revenue is expected to increase +6.3% to US$75,391m before rising a further +3.5% in 2022 to US$78,046m. Adjusted earnings per share is forecast to grow 11% in 2021 to US$5.68 and a further +6.5% in 2022 to US$6.05. Based on these adjusted estimates the stock trades on forward P/E multiples of 23.1 and 21.7 for 2021 and 2022, in line with the peer group averages of 23.5 and 21.5.

The average target price of analysts covering the stock is $151.08 with 58% of analysts rating the stock as a buy, compared to 8% as a sell and 33% as a hold.
